When you build your own home, you must of course first purchase land. That is where the initial money is spent on a deposit and a mortgage. Once you have the land, then the sky is the limit, (with planning permission of course). There are several jobs along the way that require paying, but if you have the right advice and guidance, you can do it one step at a time, and eventually end up with the perfect family home.
Finding suitable land to build on is challenging. One is more likely to find plots of land for building home in smaller towns or in country areas. This will not suit someone who needs to be living in a larger town or city as land is virtually non-existent!

So building from scratch allows you to install the latest environmentally friendly and money saving heating systems. Electric underfloor heating or water based underfloor heating can go under any type of flooring.
One of the first projects people undertake when moving into a home is redoing the floors. Replacing carpet, or putting down laminate floor instead of living with horrid tiles is often the first thing to happen. So when calculating the price of a new home, vs. building, it’s important to remember that the final price on a home is not the end of the story. So much money is spent in the process of moving, that in the end, building and choosing everything new and having it done just the way you want, is not much more expensive, and sometimes even cheaper!
